Some of us commute … some of us juggle multiple activities …
all of us want to taste the peace of Shabbat. In an effort to make the Shabbat experience more accessible, there are a variety of services to choose from each month. Please see the schedule below.
Please note, due to Covid, we are currently holding our Shabbat service via zoom. Please contact the temple office on how to join us.
Shabbat Services:
Friday night services are at 7:30 pm year ’round with a few exceptions. During the summer we worship on the patio when weather allows.
We use the Gates Of Prayer prayerbook and booklets created by the Worship committee, and an Oneg Shabbat follows the service.
The first Friday of each month, September through June, is designated as a Family Shabbat service which is enhanced with the voices of our children’s choir.
The second Friday (Sept-June), we will hold a more casual Kabballat Shabbat Service which begins at 7:30 pm.
The third Friday evening of each month, September through June, includes a Torah service enhanced by our adult choir led by Leah Hepner and accompanied by organist, Steve Issacson.
Havdallah services are held periodically throughout the year when we are celebrating a Bar or Bat Mitzvah. The Congregation is welcome. Please check the Calendar for dates and times.
Hosting An Oneg Shabbat: Our Shabbat service is uniquely designed for the entire family. Our experience of Shabbat brings us closer together as a community, and also makes meaningful our Jewish identity – and our children’s. In the community tradition of Temple Beth El, every member is expected to co-host one Oneg Shabbat approximately every 18 months. This Kiddush, offered at the end of every Friday night Shabbat service, strengthens the feeling of community and family that extends beyond the ritual of the service itself, and ushers in the beauty and sanctity of each Shabbat. Assistance for the Hearing Impaired: Thanks to the generosity of several Temple members we are able to offer devices that will provide those with a hearing impairment an opportunity to hear and enjoy our services. If you need to use such a device, please see Jan Stark, Nan Coulter or the Rabbi when you come to services, and they will set you up. The only caveat is that these devices will only work for our indoor services.
