High Holiday Services at TBE
At Temple Beth El we observe the first night, and first and second days of Rosh Hashanah. The Erev Rosh Hashanah service begins at 8:00 p.m., followed by a community Oneg. The first morning of Rosh Hashanah our service begins at 9:30 am, and it starts at 10 am on the second day. Tashlich follows the service on the first day. Yom Kippur is observed with an evening Kol Nidrei service (8:00 p.m.) followed by a full day of observance commencing at 9:30 a.m., Yizkor, and minchah and neilah services. A community Break Fast follows the concluding service.
The High Holy Day Services incorporate the beautiful singing voices of our Adult Choir. The prayer book used at our adult services is The Gates of Repentance. Large-print editions are available for those who request them. Our own siddur is provided for the Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur Children’s Services.
At Temple Beth El our High Holy Day services are meaningful, engaging and inclusive. It is during these services that gestures of appreciation and gratitude are conveyed by the Temple administration to its members for their volunteering efforts and the gracious gift of their time. Members enjoy actively and extensively participating in services during the High Holy Days services, and we are blessed to have our young people and adults serving as Torah Readers. They do a beautiful job every year, and we feel a great deal of pride as we listen to them. Our Shofar team, which includes children and adults, adds greatly to the joy of welcoming the New Year.
