Our Confirmation Program runs for two years; for most children, it takes place during eighth and ninth grades. We have named the first year Confirmation Aleph and the second year Confirmation Bet.
During the first year, Confirmation Aleph students take an in-depth look at the four major denominations of Judaism – comparing and contrasting the beliefs and practices. After that, a study of Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Confucianism and other world religions – learning about their beliefs and practices, while comparing and contrasting them with Judaism.
During the second year, Confirmation Bet, the following topics are discussed:
- Morals, Ethics and Values.
- Cheating
- Media and Torah values
- Israeli-Palestinian conflict
- Anti-Semitism on college campuses in North America
- Interfaith dating and marriage
The class culminates in the students leading a Confirmation Service.
Parental Involvement: Parents are invited to come to class and join in on our discussions. Due to space limits, the instructor needs to limit it to two or three guests per class. Please contact the instructor and let him know which Sunday you wish to attend so that you can be scheduled.
